Mark F. Dempsey B.Comm, LL.B

Mark graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1981 and commenced the general practice of law in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. A founding partner in PDLR since 1983, Mark has carried out his practice along the South Shore, Annapolis Valley and Halifax.
While his legal expertise has an emphasis on personal injury law, criminal law and real estate law, Mark truly services all his clients’ legal requirements, including corporate/commercial, wills and estates, and administrative law.
Mark has appeared at all levels of Court in the Province of Nova Scotia and has also appeared numerous times before the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal, Pension Appeals Board and Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal and has taken two cases to the Supreme Court of Canada. During his career, he has been Chairperson of the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunals and is currently a Chairperson of the Nova Scotia Psychiatric Facilities Review Board.
Mark has also spent much of his time volunteering for organizations such as the Canadian Bar Association (past executive member) and is the long standing Vice President of the Lunenburg County Barristers Association. Over the years Mark has provided service to various community and charitable organizations including the YMCA, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Parish Council, Kinsmen Club of Bridgewater, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and various other organizations. During his leisure time, Mark can be found pursuing one of his many recreational interests: skiing, snowshoeing, golf, kayaking, and running in Marathons around the world, including having completed the 2003 Antarctica Marathon. He is also one of only a handful of certified paraglider pilots in the Province of Nova Scotia and is on the executive of the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association of Atlantic Canada.
